ROBERT ADES, CPA President & CEO
Robert Ades. CPA, (b. 1957) draws on nearly three decades of professional experience in the public accounting profession and ten years in the investment profession.
Robert received his B.A degree in Management Studies from Sonoma State University in 1980 and went on to become a CPA in 1982. After working for two different accounting firms, Robert decided to branch out on his own in 1988 to form a niche accounting practice serving TV commercial producers, directors, cinematographers and post-production companies. The firm later became known as Robert Ades Accountancy Corporation.
Over the decades, Robert recognized that his firm's clients were under served in the retail investment world. Concerned by the lack of objective, informed advice available to his clients, Robert sought to offer a level of independence and sophistication typically reserved for very high net worth clients.
By early 2000, Robert passed the NASD Series 66 and Series 7 exams, and began a careful review of numerous investment alternatives and vehicles. Working with a local broker/dealer and a highly gifted mentor, Robert rolled out fee-only investment platform in 2003 that utilized the principles of passive investment strategies and modern portfolio theory.
Building on the success of his platform, Robert established Ades Investment Counsel, Inc. in 2005 and became an approved advisor of Dimensional Fund Advisors, Inc., and Austin, Texas-based institutional fund manger.
In 2009, Robert became a member of CFA Institute and passed Level 1 of the CFA exam on his first attempt. Robert is currently studying to become CFA charterholder.
Robert has served as treasurers of both the AICP/West Associates Committee (Association of Independent Commercial Producers) and the local chapter of the APDA (American Parkinson Disease Association) foundation. He is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
A native of Los Angeles, Robert is passionate about photography, is married and has a young daughter.
